December 50+ Social Gathering
December 8, 2023 9:00am - 12:00pm
We will attend the CAST Theatre production of All is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914 at the JSU McClellan Theatre at 9 am. This heartwarming Christmas story is unlike any you’ve seen before. Directed by myself and music directed by Jennie Wall, the musical features 18 male vocalists from the area (including our own Scott and Bryant Whitney, Howard Johnson, and one of our previous youth, Silas Tankersley). (1 hour in length)
Synopsis: The Western Front, Christmas, 1914. Out of the violence, a silence, then a song. A German soldier enters No Man’s Land singing “Stille Nacht.” Thus begins an extraordinary night of camaraderie, music, and peace. A remarkable true story told in the words and songs of the men who lived it.
Tickets are $7 each; we must purchase them as a group. Please be sure to RSVP to Emmalie Whitney by Wednesday, December 6th, and you can turn in money to me by that date, as well. Let me know if you would like a digital link to pay, and I can forward that to you privately. The CAST Academy of Performing Arts students will sell coffee, hot chocolate, and treats in the lobby before the show to help support their upcoming competition season.
The theatre address is 1000 Gamecock Drive, Anniston, AL 36206 and is located on the JSU campus at McClellan (across from the baseball fields and the aquatic center).
After the show, we will travel to the Cane Creek Grill for a yummy lunch.
